The wildflowers were simply incredible this year.  Everywhere I turned there were fields of vibrant color.

These pictures are from the Four Pass Loop in the Maroon Bells/Snowmass Wilderness area of the White River National Forest.  The iconic peaks of the Maroon Bells are both 14,000+ ft. mountains and as you can tell very photogenic.

CTH 2010 Part 1

My most recent backpacking trip was the ~30 mile Four Pass Loop around the Maroon Bells near Aspen, CO. I did this trail back in August of 2000, and I was awed by the beauty of the expansive landscapes. Unfortunately I only had a simple film camera which couldn't sufficiently capture the images I wanted. Since then I hoped for an opportunity to return and try again with a better camera. This August, I had that opportunity with a group of ten people during Aldersgate Camp's Colorado Trail Hike (CTH). It was an awesome trip with great company. I'll be posting my pictures from this trip under the CTH heading. The first pictures were taken in Colorado Springs at The Garden of the Gods.
